Corporate Grooming & Etiquette: one day, properly practised.

Executive presence, business protocol, a working meal, conversation, grooming and dress, in a small cohort, on the Sabira Merchant curriculum. For professionals who represent their organisation and want to do it with ease.

Who it is for

People who are judged before they speak

Clients, boards, senior leadership and international counterparts form a view of you in the first minute. This day is about making that minute work for you, and the hours after it.

  • Managers and team leaders stepping into client-facing or leadership roles
  • Sales, business development and account teams
  • Professionals who host or attend business meals and events
  • Entrepreneurs and founders who are the face of the business
  • HR and administration staff who represent the organisation to visitors
  • Emerging leaders being prepared for a wider stage

By the end of the day you will be able to

  • Walk into a room, introduce yourself and others, and hold a conversation with people you have just met
  • Handle meetings, calls, email and video with the conduct senior people expect
  • Host and be hosted at a business meal without a second thought about the cutlery
  • Read cultural expectations in international settings and avoid the common missteps
  • Use posture, voice and eye contact to carry authority without raising your volume
  • Build a professional wardrobe and grooming routine that holds up on a long day

What the day covers

Seven modules, each demonstrated, practised and corrected in the room.

01

Business etiquette

Professional behaviour in the modern workplace. Introductions and business protocol, meeting conduct, listening, and the etiquette of email, phone and video calls. Building credibility through how you conduct yourself.

02

Fine dining etiquette

Formal business meals and banquets. Table manners and dining protocol, conversation at the table, difficult foods handled gracefully, and the essentials of international dining.

03

Cross-cultural etiquette

Greetings, gestures and customs across the cultures Indian business meets most. International protocol awareness and the misunderstandings that are easiest to avoid.

04

Executive presence

Body language, voice and speech clarity, first impressions, and how to hold your ground under pressure. Projecting authority and professionalism without performing it.

05

Networking and relationships

Building rapport quickly and honestly. Working a room, business cards and introductions, follow-up that gets answered, and relationships that last past the event.

06

Corporate grooming

Personal grooming and how the workplace reads it. Skin, hair and hygiene, fragrance and appropriateness, and keeping a polished image through a long or stressful schedule.

07

Executive dressing

Wardrobe fundamentals: colour, fabric, tailoring and building a working wardrobe. Business formal, semi-formal and business casual, accessories, global dress codes and cultural sensitivity in what you wear.

Assessment and certificate

A short practical assessment against Sabira Merchant’s rubric closes the day and decides the certificate of completion.

Questions

Who conducts the sessions?

Every programme is designed and overseen by Sabira Merchant. Sessions are delivered by faculty she has trained and certified on her curriculum. Depending on the format, batch and schedule, Ms Merchant may conduct part of a session personally. The content, the standards and the assessment are hers in every case.

Is this suitable for senior professionals?

Yes. The cohort is usually a mix of managers, client-facing professionals and business owners. Senior leaders who want a smaller, more private setting should look at Executive Presence for Leaders.

Does it cover what to wear?

Yes. Two of the seven modules are grooming and executive dressing: wardrobe fundamentals, colour and tailoring, dress codes from business formal to business casual, accessories, and grooming that lasts a working day. Feedback is individual.

Is dining etiquette really practised, or just explained?

Practised. Lunch is the dining practical, coached course by course. If you want a longer, dedicated session on it, see Business Dining Etiquette.

What should I bring or wear?

Come dressed as you would for an important client meeting. Part of the day is feedback on exactly that. Everything else is provided.

How do I register?
