Faculty and certification ยท The Method in practice

Certified faculty. One standard.

This page is about a method, not a roster. It explains how a faculty member is selected, trained by Sabira Merchant, certified on her curriculum and reviewed, and what the certificate you or your team receive actually records.

Why the standard is the curriculum, not the roster

You will notice that no faculty member is named or pictured on this site. That is deliberate. Faculty are certified per programme, and the roster changes from batch to batch and city to city. If the site promised you a particular person, it would be promising something the schedule cannot always keep.

What the institute can promise is the standard. Every session runs on a curriculum written by Sabira Merchant, taught by someone she has trained and certified to teach it, and closed with an assessment against her rubric. The person in the room matters, and the process below is how the institute makes sure they are up to it. But the thing you are buying is the curriculum and the certification behind it.

Depending on the format, batch and schedule, Ms Merchant may conduct part of a session personally. No seat is sold on that basis.

How a faculty member is certified

Six stages, in order. Nobody teaches a programme before completing all of them for that programme.

  1. SelectedMs Merchant selects faculty for how they carry themselves, how they speak and how they teach. A training background is a starting point, not a qualification, because the curriculum has to be learned from her.
  2. Trained by herEach programme is taught to the faculty member by Sabira Merchant: the modules, the exercises, the dining drills, the corrections and the assessment rubric.
  3. ObservesThe faculty member sits in on the programme being delivered to a real cohort before teaching any of it.
  4. Delivers under observationThey then deliver the programme while being observed, and receive detailed notes on content, correction and pace.
  5. Certified per programmeCertification is granted only when Ms Merchant is satisfied, and only for that programme. Certification on one programme does not carry over to another.
  6. ReviewedSample assessments, participant feedback and faculty notes are reviewed under her direction. Certification on a programme can be renewed or withdrawn on that basis.

What “certified on the Sabira Merchant curriculum” means

For a participant

The same programme, whoever teaches it

Your session follows the modules, exercises and corrections she wrote, in the order she set. The faculty member teaching it has been trained on that programme by her and certified to deliver it. Your assessment is marked against her rubric, and your certificate records the standard you met, not who happened to be in the room.

For an HR buyer

A standard you can roll out and report on

Because the standard sits in the curriculum and the certification, the same programme can run for a branch team in one city and a management-trainee intake in another and be judged by the same measure. In-company programmes come with attendance and assessment reporting so you can see who met the standard. See For companies.

The certificate

What the certificate records

Participants who complete a programme and pass its assessment receive a certificate of completion on the Sabira Merchant curriculum. It is issued through Princeton Academy, which facilitates the institute and keeps the register of certificates. It is not issued for attendance alone.

A certificate is issued for the open workshop and the in-company programme alike. The programme name on it tells a reader which curriculum was covered.

Each certificate states

  • The participant’s name
  • The programme completed, by its full name
  • The date of completion
  • The standard met: completion of the programme and its assessment on the Sabira Merchant curriculum
  • Issued through Princeton Academy, with a reference that can be confirmed on request

Questions about faculty and certificates

Who conducts the sessions?

Every programme is designed and overseen by Sabira Merchant. Sessions are delivered by faculty she has trained and certified on her curriculum. Depending on the format, batch and schedule, Ms Merchant may conduct part of a session personally. The content, the standards and the assessment are hers in every case.

Why are faculty not named?

Because faculty are certified per programme and rosters change by batch. Naming people on the site would invite you to choose a session by the person, when the standard you are choosing is the curriculum. Every faculty member who teaches has been trained and certified by Ms Merchant on that programme, and that is the guarantee the institute makes.

Can I verify a certificate?

Yes. Princeton Academy confirms certificates on request at register@princetonacademy.co.in. Quote the participant’s name, the programme and the date of completion.

Is the certificate the same for open workshops and in-company programmes?

Yes. The curriculum, the assessment and the certificate are the same. An in-company programme is scoped to your industry and roles and adds cohort reporting for HR, but it does not lower or raise the standard the certificate records.

Train to the standard, not the roster.
